How WE doing..?

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

For Camp 2020 we will be welcoming a very special guest appearance from ex-military dog rescue organization been!

For the first 2 weeks of our new website we don't think we have done too badly, there have had a lot of visitors and even more signing up to our updates, thank you we hope we can keep up keen by treating you mean... By mean we mean keep showing you all these AMAZING dogs that want a warm spot on your sofa, sorry. A LOT has happened in a fortnight, some good and some not so much but that's the truth behind a rescue, you take what is thrown at you.

LETS GO CAMPING

So, some AMAZING news which was announced was that the SSDR Annual Camp 2020, Haxey Quays, Doncaster has been launched and we have sold over half of the tickets already. We still have, how many days, hours, minutes and seconds to camp again? Oh, go check out our countdown timer and join us in counting down the time!

Camp of 2020 is going to be the best one yet, if we do say so ourselves, and will be themed around the 75th anniversary of VE-Day. There are a lot of surprises up our sleeves - but you kind of have to be there or be squaaaare…

For Camp 2020 we will be welcoming a very special guest appearance from ex-military dog rescue organisation Hero Paws UK. This brilliant organisation will be joining us over the weekend giving us an arena talk about what their rescue does, about the AMAZING service dogs which support our country's troops AND holding a meet-n-greet with one of their very precious older service boys at their rescue stand. To give a little something back, Saints aim to help support Hero Paws UK by donating a portion of what we make over the weekend to their fantastic cause!

Be sure to check out their website.

We will also be welcoming back our very own Super-Vet Holly Norman, of Holly Norman Canine First Aid. Holly will be joining us with her own stand where she will be doing short one-to-one sessions with those who have any questions you have been dying to ask a vet. Who is up for taking our vet on in the hula-hooping competition this year?

We have a lot more announcements to make as we approach the SSDR Annual Camp so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for those. ALSO, is you haven't already booked your pitch, head over to our Lets Go Camping page and book your space!

PAWS CROSSED FOR WINTER

While we started the week with a positive, we unfortunately had to carry out an emergency fundraiser for Winter the 10-year-old Alaskan Malamute.

On Wednesday morning Winter collapsed and couldn't lift himself off the floor. He had swelling in a let and blood coming from his nose, so foster Mum Heather rushed him to the emergency vets straight away where he was assessed. The vets carried out a series of scans which struggled to see through out big boys excess fatty tissue so they carried out further x-rays and carried out an endoscopy but unfortunately triggered his nose bleed. Samples have been send away which have been sent away for testing.

Winter started to pick up over the tail end of the week and while we are waiting on news of his test results he attended some off lead run at Rachel's Happy Hounds with the rest of the pack. We will have updates to follow on how he Winter is getting along very soon.

NEW TO SSDR

Saints have welcomed two new fosters into care this week Zeus the 9-year-old Alaskan Malamute and Rukia the 3-year-old Siberian Husky. They are both currently under assessment for 2 weeks but check out our adoption page for more information, they are now in foster care under assessment and will have updates very soon on how they are coming along.

We also had a few adoption contracts sent out for older boy Demon, Lightening the stunning Malamute, Scrappy the exotic cross from Dubai and our beautiful redhead Luna - who will be making a new addition to one our coordinators pack… They are like Pringles.

Saints are extremely busy at the moment and have 32 foster dogs looking for forever homes! Head over to our Foster and Adoption pages to find out a little more information on our sled dogs looking for a new start.

Well, that's us done for now, keep tuned to more SSDR updates and thank you for reading.

Saints x
